Boy, that was quick. This season, Connelly has 14 goals and 35 assists in 46 games with the Henderson Silver Knights. The former first-round pick has been one of the biggest bright spots for the AHL club, leading to a second-round matchup against the Eagles.
Bowman actually had some prior NHL experience with the Golden Knights this season. In 54 games, he scored eight goals and 18 assists with Vegas, providing a much-needed spark for a club needing contributors. He also had 12 goals and 14 assists in 20 games with the Silver Knights, adding to that vaunted offensive attack.
While it stinks that the two prospects won’t get time with the NHL squad, the Silver Knights could definitely use their services. The Eagles were one of the top teams in the Pacific Division this season with 93 points. They’ll provide an ample challenge for a Silver Knights squad that doesn’t have much playoff experience.
Here’s hoping that Connelly and Bowman step up to the plate and give the Silver Knights a much-needed boost. They’ve had a spectacular season and have done excellent work to get to the second round. Good luck to the two youngsters as the AHL’s Calder Cup playoffs roll on!
