Juab County Sheriff’s Office ordered immediate evacuation notices for all resident of Eureka, Mammoth and Silver City Friday night due to the Iron and Cherry fires.
The sheriff’s office advised residents to proceed eastbound on U.S. 6. A shelter will be established at the Latter-day Saints Chapel in Elberta.
The order comes a day after Eureka residents returned to their homes after they were ordered to evacuate due to the Iron Fire last Saturday.
The Cherry and Maple Peak fires both started in Juab County Friday, grew rapidly and combined into one. The fire is at an estimated 12,000 acres and is 0% contained. The Iron Fire has grown to more than 40,000 acres and is 38% contained.
