Perennial Partners has announced it has struck a deal to have 4D Infrastructure join its $8.5 billion line-up of specialist investment managers, with Perennial also acquiring a share in 4D as part of the agreement.
4D will continue as the investment manager underpinning its flagship 4D Global Infrastructure Fund across both the AUD Hedged and Unhedged versions, with Chief Investment Officer, Sarah Shaw, continuing to spearhead the business alongside existing investment team members.
The fund invests in listed infrastructure companies from across the world, seeking to tap into quality securities that are trading below fair value and have sustainable, growing earnings and dividends. The unhedged fund has returned 9.81 per cent after fees and expenses annually since inception, with the hedged version also generating an annual return of 7.55 per cent since inception.
The announcement that 4D – a boutique fund operating under the Bennelong Funds Management banner – will join Perennial’s stable comes in the wake of Antipodes’ acquisition of Bennelong and its brands announced on Wednesday.
“I’m really proud of the solid track record we’ve established over the past decade for the 4D Global Infrastructure Funds. We are excited to join Perennial Partners and look forward to taking our business to the next stage of its growth,” Shaw said.
The addition of 4D to Perennial’s line-up sees the manager grow its exposure to yet another key asset class in listed infrastructure alongside its other specialist boutique members, including Perennial Private Investments (private to public markets), Daintree Capital (fixed income), Fairlight Asset Management (global small and mid-cap equities), Perennial Resources Funds (Australian and global resources), Perennial Smaller Companies (Australian small cap), Perennial Value (Australian equities), Ziller Funds Management (global growth), Balmoral Funds Management (microcap) and the Perennial Future of Healthcare Fund (global healthcare).
“We are delighted to welcome Sarah and her team to Perennial. The 4D business has carved out an impressive niche in the Australian investment landscape and they bring to our group an established investment capability that we are eager to promote and confident that we can grow,” Anthony Patterson, Executive Director of Perennial Partners, said.
“We want to reinforce to all existing 4D investors that all the necessary resources will be committed by Perennial to the management, distribution and governance of the 4D funds, ensuring that Sarah and her team can continue to identify and capture global infrastructure investment opportunities.
“With Sarah and her colleagues joining the Perennial team, continuity of management and investment strategy is ensured, with the substantial resources of Perennial now to draw from.”
