Defence technology and engineering solutions provider KBR is to deliver sustainment services supporting the Australian Defence Force’s satellite communications service.

The company has been selected as the industry partner to sustain Aggregated Monitoring and Control (AM&C) of Satellite Earth Stations.

The programme of work will be supported by specialist Australian SME Blacktree Technology and US based Kratos Defense & Security Solutions.

Blacktree is a Perth Based Australian owned manufacturer that maintains communication systems for military and commercial use in urban, remote and harsh operating contexts.

KBR Vice President GS APAC Nic Maan said: “We have brought together the best of Clearbox System’s capabilities with KBR’s world leading Deployed ICT skills – our solution will provide Defence with more efficient, secure and capable communications.”

An initial programme of work was awarded to KBR subsidiary Clearbox Systems which designed and implemented a remote, centralised monitoring and control system for earth stations located across Australia.

Clearbox System’s role continues to focus on the provision of remote, centralised operation of SATCOM ground and space assets in Australia and overseas and aggregating operation of these assets.

The contract aligns with KBR’s recent MINERVA (SEA2273) contract where the company is equipping the Royal Australian Navy with a more modern Fleet Information Environment.
