The partnership will debut at the Bermuda Sail Grand Prix in May.
Along with naming rights, the partnership will be activated through prominent branding on the team’s F50 catamaran, integrated global marketing campaigns, a premium hospitality program, and curated experiences during the competition.
Explora Journeys joins the Swiss SailGP team’s slate of commercial partners, including main partner Stiftelsen VI, official clothing partner Sail Racing, and luxury Swiss watchmaker Rolex.
The agreement also builds on Explora Journey’s visibility in sport, where it currently serves as a global partner of sailing’s prestigious America’s Cup and main sponsor of the 2025 AP Geneva Open men’s tennis tournament.
It has previously collaborated with motor racing’s Formula 1 (F1), with its Explora ships functioning as floating boutique hotels during the Monaco Grand Prix, and counts tennis champion Jannik Sinner as a global brand ambassador.
The company’s sister brand, MSC Cruises, has several sports sponsorships in place, including with F1 through 2030, as well as top European soccer clubs such as England’s Chelsea, France’s Paris Saint-Germain, and Italy’s AC Monza.
The Swiss SailGP Team, meanwhile, was founded in 2021 and is owned by a consortium of Swiss investors, including catamaran driver Sebastien Schneiter. Last year, it added the prominent Swiss Firmenich family and other strategic investors to strengthen its capital.
The deal comes a week after Quantum Pacific sports investment group became the latest to acquire the Spanish SailGP team, bringing the championship a step closer to completing its goal, set when it launched in 2019, to transition to a model where teams are privately owned within five years.
SailGP has one team left to sell, with the New Zealand team now the only one left without private owners.
The current 2026 SailGP season began on January 17 and 18 in Australia and will end with the Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix set to run from November 28 to 29.
