GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – On this episode of Florida Man Adventures we are walking down memory lane with Grand Slam Collectibles in Ocala, let’s check it out.
Marion County’s newest collectable shop is up and running and it is filled to the brim with hard-to-find collectables and high-end sports memorabilia. Grand Slam Collectables pride themselves in having something for everyone.
“For years and years, I always went to different card shops whenever we go out of town or travel. I would Google card shops around me, then I would go and look. And we always found some with a little bit of cards or a little bit of toys. We would go to antique malls. But I never really found a place that has everything, and that was the dream,” said Steve Weitlauf, owner of Grand Slam Collectables.
The Grand Slam is building a reputation as a place to find out how much your favorite collectable is worth.
“They will bring stuff in and evaluate it tell them what it’s worth, either offer to buy it or help them find a way to dispose of it online,” said Weitlauf.
It is not easy to have such an amazing selection of collectables, Grand Slam staff search around the world for the best stuff.
“We have to travel; we have flown to New York we just got back from a trip to Georgia. We have to do a lot of traveling to find collections to keep bringing back unique stuff to fill the store,” said Weitlauf.
Grand Slam Collectables has already created a great community of collectors, and they take pride in helping people find collectables that they are passionate about.
“It’s enjoyable to see the excitement in everybody’s face. I mean we love it; I love coming here every day,” said Weitlauf.
