The best part about going to McDonald’s as a kid was seeing what toy you would get in a Happy Meal. Sadly as adults we don’t get the fun surprise, but the fast food giant is about to change that.

This month chicken nugget and burger fans will be able to get their hands on a brand new meal especially for adults around the UK and Ireland. Fans have already dubbed it an “adult Happy Meal”.

It comes as gaming lovers anticipate seeing A Minecraft Movie, which comes out on April 4. In celebration of the film, McDonald’s have created Minecraft themed meals which will feature six exclusive, collectable toys.

Launching Wednesday March 26, McDonald’s customers can enjoy a Big Mac, nine McNuggets or four Veggie Dippers, as well as a choice of side and fizzy drink, plus a Minecraft collectable. Meals are available in medium or large sizes and there are six different collectables to get your hands on from Grimace, Hamburglar and Birdie the Early Bird, ‘blockified’ like in Minecraft.

After the news was shared on popular social media food page, New Foods UK, fans shared their excitement. One individual said: “An adult Happy Meal!? Oh yes please.”

“Omg I want grimace,” said a Minecraft fan. Another tagged their friends and said: “You guys need to get these Minecraft meals so I can collect the figures.”

On McDonald’s Instagram page, another fan wrote: “Please do more adult happy meals!! I’m so excited for these.” One other added: “Epic, I cannot wait. My inner child is excited.”

“Adult Happy Meal, finally,” commented one other. On X, another fan said: “McDonald’s x Minecraft – I absolutely love the direction they went for this, McDonald’s has really killed it with their collabs lately.”

Plus, McDonald’s are also introducing a Minecraft themed sauce. A spokesperson for McDonald’s explained: “It wouldn’t be A Minecraft Movie universe without exploring multiple worlds. Enter a portal to the Nether, a land where lava is more common than water, with the limited edition Nether Flame Sauce.”

The hot sauce is inspired by the Nether with crushed red pepper and flaming cayenne, balanced with hints of garlic and sweetness. The “perfect companion” with McNuggets and Fries for an added kick.

Plus, dessert fans can also try the brand new Apple Cake McFlurry. It is a soft dairy ice cream swirled with apple and shortcake pieces, and finished with a sour apple sauce. The Apple Cake McFlurry will be priced at £2.19, while the mini version will set you back £1.69.

A Minecraft Movie Meal will cost £8.19. Menu item pricing is set by each restaurant and may vary nationwide. A Minecraft Movie Meal is served from 11am. Extra charge applies for Coca-Cola Classic and drink upgrades.

Ben Fox, Senior Vice President Chief Marketing Officer at McDonald’s UK and Ireland, said: “McDonald’s is exploring a brand-new world with the A Minecraft Movie collaboration. We’re always looking for fun and exciting ways to bring excitement to our menu and the A Minecraft Movie Meal is a perfect way to bring two icons together.”

Fox added: “This partnership has allowed us to bring amazing collectibles, crafted for adults, to the UK for the first-time ever! We can’t wait for fans to meet their favourite McDonaldsland characters in blockified form, and to experience the new products which have been inspired by the A Minecraft Movie universe – Nether Sauce and Apple Cake McFlurry.”
