2026 SWISS LONG COURSE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Day two of the 2026 Swiss Long Course Championships was on the subdued side, with no records broken or world rankings significantly rattled.
Olympic medalist Roman Mityukov was the top men’s 50m back performer, hitting a time of 25.10 to get the job done and grab the gold.
Thierry Bollin produced a mark of 25.15 to narrowly be relegated to silver, while Leon Opatril rounded out the podium in 25.59.
Of note, Olympic medalist and sprint fly specialist Noe Ponti was also in the race, logging 25.87 as the 5th-best swimmer in the final.
The national record remains at the 24.75 Flori Lang established at the 2009 World Championships.
Kay-Lyn Lohr was too quick to catch in the women’s 200m breast, turning in a time of 2:26.22, a new lifetime best. Entering this competition, Lohr’s career-swiftest performance checked in at the 2:27.62 notched just last month in Lausanne, so she managed to hack well over a second off that result for gold this evening.
Linn Grob was next to the wall in 2:33.73 and Alexandra Froissart bagged the bronze in 2:34.93.
Additional Notes
- The women’s 100m free saw Angelique Brugger put up a mark of 56.53 for the victory, with Seraphine Hoigne immediately behind in 56.79. Manon Richard and Lilla Hauer touched simultaneously in 57.10 to share bronze medal honors.
- The top three men’s 100m free performers all cleared the 50-second barrier, led by Balint Ashton‘s effort of 49.17. He touched just .02 ahead of Timo Sorgius of Germany, who was the 200m free winner last night. Sorgius clocked 49.19 and Robin Yeboah also landed on the podium in 49.48, good enough for bronze.
- Finally, the men’s 400m IM saw Marius Toscan deliver a mark of 4:17.60 to win the men’s 400m IM decisively. He got to the wall nearly 10 seconds ahead of the next-closest competitor en route to producing the 3rd-best time of his career.
