Two men have been arrested in New South Wales following a break-in in South Australia in which a “large amount” of cash, collectable coins and more than a dozen weapons were stolen, and a 74-year-old man was injured, police say.
SA Police will today apply for the extradition of the two men, one of whom was pulled over near Broken Hill allegedly in possession of items including a loaded semi-automatic shotgun and a further 14 firearms.
The alleged robbery occurred in the early hours of Monday morning at a home on the St Vincent Highway at Yorketown on Yorke Peninsula, where SA Police were called about 1am.
Three men allegedly stole what police described as a “large amount” of cash and a “large quantity” of collectable coins, as well as the firearms.
It is understood the total value of the stolen coins and cash could be in the range of $1 million.

Police said a 74-year-old resident was assaulted and the men made off in his car, which was later found at Minlaton.
The victim suffered head injuries and was treated at a local hospital.
Hours after the robbery, a white van was pulled over about 8:45am on Monday on the Barrier Highway by a patrol officer near Broken Hill.
Police said a passenger ran off, but a search of the vehicle allegedly revealed the stolen items, and police arrested the driver, who will appear in court in Broken Hill today.
The 49-year-old man was charged with 18 offences including knowingly dealing with proceeds of crime, receiving stolen property and possessing a loaded firearm in a public place.
Later on Monday, a second white van “which police suspected had been travelling with the first van” was stopped on the outskirts of Cobar, SA Police said.
“Police searched the van and located further items stolen from the Yorketown break-in.”

The 35-year-old driver, who was allegedly the subject of an outstanding warrant, was arrested and charged with offences including driving while disqualified, receiving stolen property and knowingly dealing with proceeds of crime.
The man will appear in court in Cobar today.
“South Australian police are preparing exterritorial warrants to take possession of all collectable monies and the two vehicles used in the robbery,” NSW Police said.
SA Police said they would apply for the extradition of the two men at their court appearances.
