At the very beginning of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, we experience exactly what the Paintress is so renowned for – painting death – before being whisked away to the Expedition Festival, a rather bleak celebration of the journey this team is about to go on.
This gives Gustave some time to chat to his fellow Expeditioners, and even earn some Festival Tokens that can be used to grab some gear before the game really gets started. To help with that, here’s where to get Festival Tokens in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Where to get Festival Tokens in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
After the Paintress paints a new number and the gommage concludes in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you’re given control of Gustave and can freely explore the Expedition Festival. Here, there are three Festival Tokens to be acquired and used, as well as plenty of characters to speak to.
Here’s where you’ll find each Festival Token, and what you can spend them on.
Clair Obscur Festival Token #1
The first Festival Token in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is given to you from the get-go, and will be in your inventory as soon as the cutscene ends and the Festival has started.

Clair Obscur Festival Token #2
The second Festival token can be acquired from Antoine, the bald man in the white suit. He will quiz you, asking you three questions about past Expeditions and Lumina.
All of the answers to his quiz can be discovered by speaking to the black-haired woman in the area, Lune, and reading the tutorials in your now-available character menu. If you need more help, however, here’s our guide to Antoine’s quiz answers.

Clair Obscur Festival Token #3
The third and final Festival Token is all yours if you manage to defeat Maelle in a duel. You’ll have already duelled her at the beginning of the game, but if you approach her on the docks, you’ll be able to engage in a second optional duel with her.
What to use Festival Tokens for in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
The three Festival Tokens in Clair Obscur can be spent on the three different vendors in their respective tents, just behind Antoine.

The first vendor, Tom, will give you a Weird Pictos that cannot be used in its current state. The following vendor, Amandine, will provide you with a new Bun hairstyle to kit Gustave out with, while the final vendor, Colete, will give you an Old Key.
You won’t be able to use the Old Key just yet, but it can be used to unlock somewhere later on in your journey.
