Owen Burrows’ seven-year-old, who went down by half a length to Los Angeles in last month’s Tattersalls Gold Cup, is expected to come on considerably for that thrilling duel at the Curragh and has been thriving since according to Shadwell racing manager Angus Gold.
Bookmakers make Anmaat second favourite behind Los Angeles after William Haggas revealed Economics would miss Wednesday’s Group 1 over a mile and a quarter due to a pulled muscle. The pair had been vying for second-favouritism at around 5-1 before news of his absence, after which Anmaat was cut to a general 4-1 and as short as 7-2 behind market leader Los Angeles, who was quoted at 2-1 and no bigger than 9-4.
