Arqana has announced the appointment of Mael Thibault to the bloodstock team, where he will take charge of inspections for Flat and National Hunt yearlings, as well as stores in France.
Originally from western France, Thibault has been passionate about racing since a very early age, and was drawn to a career path combining racing, economics and sport. After studying at the Faculty of Economics in Angers, he joined Wakaito Stud in New Zealand, where he helped prepare yearlings for the sales.
Back in France, he continued his experience at Ecurie des Monceaux before beginning a Master’s degree in Sports Management at the Win Sport School in Nantes. In 2023, he joined the Irish National Stud, where he took part in the European sales season in Ireland and England. After graduating, he moved to Australia, where he spent a sales season at Yarraman Park, before joining Newgate Farm, where he managed the stud’s stallions.
Thibault said: “I’m delighted to be joining the Arqana team and highly motivated by this opportunity, which fits in perfectly with my career path. I’d like to thank Ludovic Cornuel, Freddy Powell and Olivier Delloye, who have placed their trust in me to take up this new challenge.”
Arqana’s bloodstock director Ludovic Cornuel added: “It’s a pleasure to welcome Mael Thibault to the bloodstock team. Originally from the west of France, a region where Flat and jump racing are well established, Mael has solid breeding experience both in Europe and Australia.
“He will be joining the bloodstock team in May, and will in due course be in charge of yearling and store inspections in France.”
