Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Assistant Governor Zeno Ronald R. Abenoja was officially sworn in on Tuesday, May 20, as the new Deputy Governor for the Monetary and Economic Sector, succeeding Francis Dakila following his recent retirement.

BSP Governor Eli M. Remolona Jr. administered the oath of office to Abenoja, according to a post on the central bank chief’s Facebook post.

Before stepping up the ladder, Abenoja was the Assistant Governor overseeing the monetary policy sub-sector at the BSP.

From 2022 to 2024, Abenoja served as the Undersecretary for the Policy Development and Management Services Group at the Department of Finance (DOF).

Remolona said on Tuesday, May 20, that the central bank is “fortunate to have someone like Zeno, with his breadth of experience in economic policy and his depth of understanding in monetary economics.”

Monetary Board Member (MBM) Rosalia V. De Leon also said that the new deputy governor leads quietly but is impactful.

“‘True leadership does not need to be loud to make an impact,’nobody exemplifies this better than Zeno,” De Leon stressed.

“His outstanding track record in public service speaks volumes about his readiness to assume greater responsibility at the [BSP],” she added.

De Leon further noted that for the next generation of public servants, Abenoja stands as a “powerful example of what can be achieved through quiet dedication and mastery of one’s craft.”
