The Virginia Retirement System announced its latest private equity investments, totalling $1.45 billion, in its August board meeting.

The public pension committed $250 million to Olympus Growth VIII. Managed by Olympus Partners, the buyout fund invests in diversified sectors within North America.

VRS also committed $250 million to Thoma Bravo Fund XVI. The fund will make controlled buyout investments in software products and services in North America.

Virginia Retirement System invested $750 million into a separate managed account titled GCM Grosvenor VRS VI. Managed by GCM Grosvenor, the fund of funds vehicle will invest in growth equity and small buyout funds in the US and Europe.

VRS also announced a $200 million commitment to EnCap Energy Capital Fund XII. The growth stage fund had raised $2.2 billion as of April.

Virginia Retirement System allocates 17 percent of its investment portfolio into private equity, amounting to $19.36 billion in capital.
