Fund manager Pie Funds has expanded its Sydney investment team with two new appointments.
Shawn Lee is the new portfolio manager of Pie Funds’ Australasian Emerging Companies Fund. He has experience investing in high-growth, small-cap businesses and joins Pie Funds from SG Hiscock & Company (SGH), where he managed the SGH Australian Small Companies Fund.
Before SGH, he was an investment manager at Aberdeen Standard Investments.
Micah Barr has also joined the Sydney team as an investment analyst. After graduating with a Bachelor of Business Analysis from the University of Waikato, majoring in finance and economics, Barr held analyst roles at Craigs Investment Partners and an insurance technology start-up.
Pie Funds founder and chief investment officer Mike Taylor said the appointments reflected the firm’s long-standing belief in the growth potential of Australasian equities.
“The focus of our four Australasian equities funds, which are actively managed by our Sydney team, is to deliver long-term capital growth for our clients. Led by Michelle Lopez, our Head of Australasian Equities, the team has built an enviable track record, and we’re looking forward to seeing this continue with the appointments of Shawn and Micah.”
Pie Funds is a boutique New Zealand-owned KiwiSaver, investment funds and wealth manager founded in 2007. At the end of March, it managed more than $2.1 billion of funds.
