Men are still paid 7.8% more than women, according to Statistics Jersey.
This figure covers the gender pay gap 12-month average up to June 2024 and means a male employee receives £12.40 more for an eight-hour work day than their female colleague.
It is better than the previous 12-month average up to June 2023 of 9%, but there have been months since when the difference was larger.
The most recent data for just June 2024 shows the gap at 6.3%.

The gender pay gap also varies between age groups and sectors.
The information and communication sector saw the highest disparity at 28.2%, followed by financial and legal activities, and manufacturing.
Men are also paid more in age groups over 40 – with the highest gap of 16.1% recorded in the 55-59 group.
The sectors with the lowest pay gaps were private education, health, and ‘other services’.
Only two data points showed women being paid more than men on average: those working in the utilities and waste sector, and in the 25-29 age group.

The public sector’s gender pay gap stands much higher than the overall average at 19.7%.
Deputy Lindsay Feltham, Jersey’s Social Security Minister, says that more work needs to be done to narrow the difference.
She explains: “I think it’s really important that the Government is a leader and as the largest employer on the island, takes their gender pay gap seriously.
“I’ve already asked my team to encourage employers to be more transparent when they’re advertising their roles.”
In 2023, the States of Guernsey said they did not collect data that allowed them to reliably report on the gender pay gap.
While they said there were plans to begin reliable reporting in 2024, ITV News has not been able to find these results.
The States of Guernsey has been contacted for comment.
