It can prove daunting to change careers, especially when the individual changing their career has been in their previous position for a decade. Impressively, Laura Elleby, realtor and co-founder of luxury real estate company the E+E Group of Compass, has done just that.

An Unusual Path to Real Estate

Ms. Elleby grew up in Dallas, Texas, and earned a Bachelor of Science in health science from the University of Oklahoma in 2007. She spent the early part of her career in the medical field as a medical device representative for orthopedic surgeons.

For 10 years, Ms. Elleby and her husband owned their own business, leading a team of medical device representatives. She is also a certified yoga instructor and spent a few years as a full-time mother while her husband continued working as a medical device representative.

Ms. Elleby and her husband’s love of Blue Ridge, Georgia, inspired her next career transition to real estate.

Perseverance Results in Success

Ms. Elleby started the E+E Group of Compass with her husband based on personal needs. Dissatisfied with the treatment she received from a top real estate agent when the couple bought their first home in Georgia, she handled most of the work associated with their purchase. Her husband was impressed with her performance and encouraged her to pursue her real estate license. The couple moved to Blue Ridge, where they opened their own real estate company.

Self-described as “not a part-time person,” Ms. Elleby persevered through three difficult years of not being accepted by the community and other real estate agents in her field. Her persistence paid off when a chief executive officer from Atlanta, Georgia, contacted her through Zillow and connected her with a top builder. That collaboration resulted in a $2.3 million dollar sale for one of the builder’s most expensive properties. From that success, Ms. Elleby gained the reputation of a formidable real estate professional.

The E+E Group of Compass is now an $82-million-a-year company, and Ms. Elleby’s goal is to make it $150 million per year within two years. The demand for her services is such that she only works with those personally referred to her or returning clients.

Ms. Elleby is proud that all the members of her team have doubled their salaries each year. Their success is a rewarding facet of the family atmosphere she has cultivated with her team. She believes in loving and inspiring those with whom she works.

Ms. Elleby has received several awards, including listings among the Top Ten Agents of Georgia, induction into the Executive Club in 2019 and being named a Top Producer in 2020. Despite the acclaim she has received and her reputation as a top agent, she continues to set goals for her career. In 2024, Ms. Elleby became a broker to elevate her status regarding renegotiating contracts.

Faith, consistency and perseverance are the foundations on which Ms. Elleby has built her success.
