Newmark has brought on commercial real estate veteran Mark Repstad to boost the firm’s industrial services in Los Angeles and Inland Empire markets. 

A 20-year veteran, Repstad was named executive managing director in Newmark’s Downtown Los Angeles office. He has closed more than 650 transactions totaling around 41 million square feet and over $2.2 billion in volume. 

Repstad’s clients have included Clarion Partners, CEG Construction, Dedeaux Properties, LBA Realty, Link Industrial and Prologis. 

Repstad joined Newmark from an industrial real estate company he founded and helmed as chief executive: Southland Commercial Real Estate. 

Newmark announced two other hires.

Lex Yoo and Brent Koo were tapped as senior managing directors in Southern California to focus on office and industrial leasing and sales. Yoo is  based in Newmark’s downtown Los Angeles office, while Koo is based in Orange County.

The two advised South Korean commercial real estate occupiers and investors at CBRE. Together they have executed more than $1 billion in transactions and advised clients such as Samsung.

There have been Los Angeles and Orange County moves at other firms.

  • Patrick Church returned to CBRE as an executive vice president in Los Angeles after around a decade at JLL, where he was a managing director for the life sciences team on the West Coast. At CBRE, Church will once again handle landlord and occupier advisory services in the office sector. 
  • Richard Hawthorne succeeded Mark Wagner as president for E&S Ring Management in Los Angeles. Hawthorne has helmed publicly traded and privately held organizations  with almost $4 billion in real estate transactions such as Aimco and Goldrich Kest.
  • Two real estate players went off on their own to create Arselle Investments, a private real estate investment platform, headquartered in Los Angeles. Kev Zoryan and Aaron Greeno held roles at Morgan Stanley and Dune, respectively. 
  • Los Angeles’ Cityview is opening an office in New York City helmed by Christoph Donner. The former CEO of PIMCO Prime Real Estate is Cityview’s global head of capital development and strategy and assumed the role six months ago.

Kidder Mathews hired one person and promoted two others.

  • The company brought on David Mastro as senior vice president for asset services in Orange County. A 35-year veteran, he’ll oversee a portfolio exceeding 8.5 million square feet.
  • Kidder Mathews promoted Darren Tappen to regional president of brokerage for its Greater Los Angeles, Southern California and Arizona markets, overseeing 215 brokers in eight offices. The Phoenix-based executive joined Kidder Mathews a decade ago.
  • Kidder Mathews bumped Darrell Levonian up to managing director in Century City, leading 30 brokers. He joined the company seven years ago to launch that office. 

Savills announced two new hires for its Orange County operations.

  • Scott Wetzel joined as an executive managing director, focused on tenant advisory services for office and industrial clients.
  • Brett Kluewer joined as a senior managing director, representing office tenants.
