The scheme, at Gate Farm in Semer, will see existing agricultural barns demolished and replaced with four “barn-style” properties following approval from Babergh District Council.
The development was first submitted in August last year and proposed a pair of semi-detached single-storey homes arranged around a central courtyard with parking spaces.
Planning documents said the new homes would provide a “material betterment” to the site compared to an earlier approved conversion scheme for houses, which dates back to 1990.
Designed to reflect the area’s rural character, the properties will feature agricultural-style materials and a traditional barn-inspired appearance.
The homes will include open-plan kitchen, dining and living areas, with bedrooms positioned towards the front and middle sections of the buildings.
Planning officers concluded the development would not cause significant harm to the surrounding countryside and would provide a suitable redevelopment of the existing farm buildings.
