“This is a city that celebrates pushing the boundaries and making the impossible possible,” says Mahdi Amjad, Founder and Executive Chairman of OMNIYAT, a developer that specialises in ultra-luxury and highly personalised projects. Amjad founded his company in 2005, with the ambition of transforming what he saw at the time as a mass-market approach to new developments in the UAE. “We wanted to bring iconic projects to the city that stood apart through their design, innovation and artistry,” he says.
A vision for 2033
OMNIYAT’s developments have consistently raised the ultra-luxury bar in Dubai, including the striking interlocking towers of The Lana hotel and Residences, and the futuristic blue-glass towers of The Opus, a high-end mixed-use development that resembles a giant, melting ice cube. The company has also won attention for its collaborations with some of the world’s leading architects and designers: The Lana was designed by Foster + Partners and The Opus by Zaha Hadid Architects. “We’re working with some of the world’s most visionary minds to raise standards in ultra-luxury real estate,” says Amjad.
Projects such as these have contributed to the runaway success of Dubai’s luxury property market in recent years. And growth continues to be strong. In 2024, according to figures collated by real estate company Engel & Völkers, transactions above $2.7mn increased by just over 20 per cent, with the island of Palm Jumeirah accounting for a quarter of them.
