Lloyds Metals and Energy Ltd on Thursday (March 20) said it has received the environmental clearance from the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change for its upcoming 1.2 million tonne per annum (MTPA) wire rod project and 4 MTPA pellet plant project at Ghugus, Chandrapur, Maharashtra.

“…we would like to inform that we have been granted Environmental Clearance by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Government of India (IA Division) on 20th March, 2025 for the upcoming 1.2 MTPA Wire Rod Project and 4.0 MTPA Pellet Plant Project respectively at Ghugus, District Chandrapur, Maharashtra,” according to a stock exchange filing.

In January this year, Lloyds Metals reported a 22% year-on-year (YoY) increase in direct reduced iron (DRI) production, which stood at 238,000 tonnes for the nine-month period. Iron ore production also rose by 5% YoY to 8.6 MT. December marked the highest monthly DRI production, with operations running at nearly full capacity.

Lloyds Metals, incorporated in 1977, is a major iron ore miner in Maharashtra and a key DRI producer with a capacity of 3,40,000 tonnes per annum. The company operates a 34 MW waste heat recovery-based power plant and supplies to markets across India.

Shares of Lloyds Metals and Energy Ltd ended at ₹1,257, up by ₹6.90, or 0.55%, on the BSE.
