Morocco Unveils Amiblu Production Line in $17 Million Boost to Water Infrastructure

Agadir – Morocco has inaugurated a third production line of Amiblu Maroc, a manufacturer of glass fiber-reinforced polyester (GRP) piping systems, in a MAD 160 million ($17 million) investment to strengthen the country’s industrial base for water infrastructure and create more than 300 jobs.

Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour presided over the inauguration ceremony on Tuesday at the company’s facility in Nouaceur, alongside Austrian Ambassador to Morocco Anna Jankovic, industrial stakeholders, and local officials, according to a statement from the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The expansion raises the plant’s annual production capacity to 660 kilometers of piping with an average diameter of DN800, while increasing the maximum manufacturable pipe diameter to DN3200. It also expands fittings production capacity by 25%.

The project includes a testing platform built to international standards, new workshops and industrial facilities, and the creation of a GRP Academy, which is scheduled to open in 2027 to support workforce development.

Formerly known as Amitech, Amiblu Maroc specializes in glass fiber-reinforced polyester piping systems used in drinking water transmission, seawater desalination, and irrigation projects.

According to the ministry, the company provides integrated engineering expertise, including chemical, mechanical, hydraulic, and civil engineering, covering the full project cycle from design and consulting to manufacturing, installation, and commissioning.

The ministry also stressed that the facility relies entirely on Moroccan expertise, with all engineering, manufacturing, and quality control operations carried out by Moroccan teams.

“The facility relies entirely on Moroccan talent, with all of its teams made up of Moroccan professionals overseeing every stage of design, manufacturing, and quality control,” the ministry emphasized.

“This reflects Morocco’s ability to develop highly skilled industrial and technical expertise domestically while consolidating national know-how in a strategic sector that supports the country’s major water infrastructure projects,” it added.

Speaking at the inauguration, Mezzour said the new production line reflects Morocco’s broader industrial transformation strategy.

“The launch of this production line embodies the momentum of Morocco’s industrial transformation and reflects the Kingdom’s ambition to develop high-value-added industries capable of supporting its major strategic projects,” the minister said.

He added that the investment aligns with Morocco’s national strategy to build a specialized industrial ecosystem for seawater desalination.

Mezzour described the sector as a key driver for strengthening industrial sovereignty, increasing local integration, and enhancing the country’s water security, while welcoming what he called the renewed confidence of international partners in Morocco’s industrial platform.
