Solana is processing about one in five stablecoin transactions, according to comments from Standard Chartered’s global head of digital assets cited by BlockBeats.

Jeff Kendrick made the remarks during a recent appearance on Solana’s official House of Sol podcast, BlockBeats reported on September 3.

About $7 trillion moves through stablecoins each month, Kendrick said. He added that Solana handles about 20% of total stablecoin transaction volume, benefiting from fast speeds and low fees.

Kendrick said stablecoin use has expanded this year beyond crypto trading into areas such as business-to-business payments and fund settlement. He also said blockchain networks are developing specialized use cases based on factors including speed, cost, liquidity and their ability to address regulation.

Corporate adoption will be the next growth driver for stablecoins, he said. If companies begin using stablecoins in earnest for cross-border remittances, internal fund transfers and supply-chain payments, market growth could accelerate further.
