Consistent performers: 41 equity mutual funds deliver over 15% CAGR in 3 and 5 years

Around 41 equity mutual funds have delivered over 15% CAGR in the last three and five years, according to a data analysis by ETMutualFunds. Nearly 212 funds have completed five years of existence in the industry.

Axis Small Cap Fund delivered 15.53% and 15.48% CAGR in the last three and five years, respectively. The next two funds were from Bandhan Mutual Fund. Bandhan Large & Mid Cap Fund and Bandhan Small Cap Fund delivered over 15% CAGR across both horizons.

The flexi cap fund and small cap fund from Bank of India Mutual Fund also featured in the list and gave over 15% CAGR in both the horizons. Baroda BNP Paribas Mid Cap Fund offered 18.34% and 5.11% CAGR respectively in the mentioned time frames.

DSP Small Cap Fund also offered over 15% CAGR in both horizons. Edelweiss Mid Cap Fund delivered 22.04% in the last three years and 18.07% in the last five years. Edelweiss Small Cap Fund posted a gain of 16.19% and 16.44% in the last three years and five years, respectively.
The next three funds in the list were from HDFC Mutual Fund. HDFC Flexi Cap Fund, the second largest flexi cap fund based on assets managed, delivered over 15% CAGR in the said time periods.
The other two funds were – HDFC Focused Fund and HDFC Mid Cap Fund – which gave over 15% CAGR in the mentioned time periods. HDFC Mid Cap Fund is the largest mid cap fund based on assets managed.
The value fund and mid cap fund from HSBC Mutual Fund delivered over 15% CAGR in both the horizons. The next four funds were from ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund that gave over 15% CAGR in both the horizons.

The four funds – ICICI Pru Focused Equity Fund, ICICI Pru Large & Mid Cap Fund, ICICI Pru Midcap Fund and ICICI Pru Multicap Fund delivered over 15% CAGR in the last three and five years respectively.

There were four funds from Invesco Mutual Fund. Invesco India Focused Fund gave 20.56% in the last three years and 15.04% in the last five years. The other three funds were – Invesco India Large & Mid Cap Fund, Invesco India Midcap Fund, and Invesco India Smallcap Fund, which gave over 20% CAGR in both the horizons.

ITI Small Cap Fund, Kotak Midcap Fund and LIC MF Small Cap Fund delivered over 15% CAGR in both the horizons. Two funds from Mahindra Manulife Mutual Fund – Mahindra Manulife Mid Cap Fund and Mahindra Manulife Multi Cap Fund gave over 15% CAGR in the last three years and five years.

Mirae Asset Midcap Fund delivered 17.68% in the last three years and 15.72% in the last five years. The next three funds to follow were from Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund.

Motilal Oswal ELSS Tax Saver Fund, Motilal Oswal Large & Midcap Fund and Motilal Oswal Midcap Fund delivered over 15% CAGR in both the horizons. Nippon India Growth Mid Cap Fund, the fund with the highest NAV, and Nippon India Small Cap Fund, the largest small cap fund based on assets managed, delivered over 15% CAGR in the mentioned time periods.

Quant Large & Mid Cap Fund and Quant Small Cap Fund also featured in the list. Quant Large & Mid Cap Fund posted a gain of 15.73% in the last three years and 15.81% in the last five years. Quant Small Cap Fund gave 18.80% in the last three years and 18.05% in the last five years.

SBI ELSS Tax Saver Fund, the oldest ELSS fund, delivered 16.03% and 16.07% CAGR in the last three years and five years respectively.

Two funds from Sundaram Mutual Fund – Sundaram Mid Cap Fund and Sundaram Small Cap Fund – gave over 15% CAGR in the mentioned time period. Tata Mid Cap Fund posted a gain of 17.44% and 15.53% in the last three years and five years respectively.

Two funds from Union Mutual Fund – Union Midcap Fund and Union Small Cap Fund – delivered over 15% CAGR in both the horizons.

Among these 41 funds, Bandhan Small Cap Fund delivered the highest return in the last three years of around 25.95%. Motilal Oswal Midcap Fund gave the highest return in the last five years of around 21.64%.

We considered all equity funds excluding sectoral and thematic funds. We considered regular and growth options. We calculated the trailing returns for the last three years and five years.
