The Linda Mwananchi movement has unveiled the three guiding principles that will anchor its political agenda as it prepares to transition into a political party ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In a statement shared on X account by Suba South Member of Parliament Caroli Omondi on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, the movement said it would be anchored on the principles of Social Market Democracy, also known as the Social Market Economy.
According to the statement, the movement will be built on three key pillars: democratic governance, a free market economy and social justice.
“Linda Mwananchi will be anchored on the principles of Social Market Democracy, also known as the Social Market Economy. The movement will stand on three fundamental pillars: Democratic Governance, Free Market Economy and Social Justice,” Omondi said.

The announcement comes as the movement sharpens its political identity while seeking to position itself as an alternative platform ahead of the next General Election.
Political transition underway
The latest declaration follows remarks by Suba South MP Caroli Omondi, who announced earlier on Tuesday that Linda Mwananchi would transform into a fully fledged political party after outgrowing its roots within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Speaking during an interview with a local television station, Omondi said the movement had attracted supporters from across the political divide and needed to provide clarity on its future direction.

He said the new party would nominate Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as its presidential candidate before joining other opposition parties in negotiations to form a broad coalition for the 2027 elections.
“We have reached a point where we have to clearly give our supporters and the nation more details about what our plans are. There is a lot of support for Linda Mwananchi and a very strong desire for change,” Omondi said.
Coalition strategy
Omondi said the movement envisions establishing its own political party while working with other opposition outfits to build a grand coalition similar to the one that won the 2002 General Election.
He said James Orengo, Babu Owino and other leaders would spearhead coalition talks after the party formally nominates Sifuna as its presidential flag bearer.
The unveiling of the movement’s ideological pillars signals a new phase in Linda Mwananchi’s political journey as its leaders seek to transform it from a pressure group into a national political party built around governance reforms, economic liberalisation and social justice.
