Thailand-focused private equity firm Lakeshore Capital has closed its third flagship fund at its $305 million hard cap, exceeding its original $250 million target.
Fund III attracted new and existing investors including global asset managers, sovereign wealth funds, insurers, funds-of-funds and family offices, according to placement adviser Asante Capital.
The vehicle will invest in growth and buyout opportunities across Thailand and the Greater Mekong region, including both controlling and minority positions in mid-market companies with potential for regional expansion or industry consolidation.
Fund size rises above initial target
International Finance Corporation disclosures show Lakeshore III originally targeted $250 million. IFC approved an investment of up to $30 million in the fund alongside a separate $30 million co-investment envelope.
IFC said the strategy would target companies primarily in Thailand, with up to 30 percent of the fund potentially invested in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.
The fund’s typical investment range is expected to be roughly $10 million to $50 million, according to the IFC disclosure.
Mid-market private equity remains underpenetrated
Lakeshore focuses on mid-market businesses in sectors including consumer, healthcare, business services and industrials.
The strategy reflects a broader private-equity thesis in Southeast Asia: rather than relying only on technology startups or large regional conglomerates, investors can pursue established local businesses that may benefit from professionalization, consolidation and cross-border expansion.
Asante said Fund III was oversubscribed, but Lakeshore maintained the $305 million hard cap to keep fund size aligned with the opportunity set and its operating model.
The close gives Lakeshore a larger pool of capital for deals across mainland Southeast Asia at a time when investors are becoming more selective about entry valuations, operational improvement and credible exit pathways.
