Maritime Affairs Minister Vassilis Kikilias announced on Friday the completion of 13 major port infrastructure upgrade projects, with a total budget of €78.4 million.
The projects, covering both island and mainland areas across Greece, will strengthen the safety, functionality, accessibility and resilience of ports and form part of the ministry’s broader plan to modernize port infrastructure and improve connectivity for islands and coastal areas.
The interventions were financed primarily through Greece’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan, “Greece 2.0,” while national, regional, and other development funds were also used to complement funding for a number of projects.
The program includes dredging and restoration of operational depths, repairs to breakwaters and quay walls, construction of new jetties and ramps, upgrades to mooring and safety infrastructure, coastal protection works and road links to ports.
