Sevastopol, the largest city in Russian-occupied Crimea, was left temporarily without electricity following a Ukrainian attack on energy infrastructure outside the city.

Mikhail Razvozhayev, the Russian-appointed governor of Sevastopol, said the outage was caused by a strike on power infrastructure located beyond the city limits, Caliber.Az reports.

“Dear residents of Sevastopol! As a result of Ukraine’s attack on energy infrastructure outside Sevastopol, our city is temporarily without power,” Razvozhayev said in a statement.

According to the official, emergency measures have been introduced across critical facilities, with public services switching to backup power systems while repair crews work to restore electricity.

“Specialists are currently doing everything possible to restore power to homes,” he said.

Razvozhayev urged residents to conserve their mobile phone batteries and use their devices only for emergency communications. He also advised people not to overload household electrical systems once power is restored.

The power outage also disrupted public transportation, with trolleybus services suspended on the morning of July 6 due to the lack of electricity.

“Due to the lack of power in the grid, trolleybuses will not be running this morning. Please allow extra time for your commute,” Razvozhayev said.
