By Neil Roland ( September 30, 2026, 21:44 GMT | Insight) — The US Securities and Exchange Commission floated a plan to expand ordinary investors’ access to risky hedge and private equity funds, as well as venture capital and credit funds, if investors pass an exam developed by brokerage trade group FINRA. Under the proposal, individuals can also become “accredited investors” if they hold a license as a US-certified public accountant, hold a charter as a chartered financial analyst, or hold a certification as a certified financial planner.
