OpenSea Brings Solana NFTs Back, Expanding Its Multi-Chain Crypto Marketplace

OpenSea added support for Solana NFTs in its multi-chain marketplace, allowing users to discover, buy, and sell collectibles issued on the Solana blockchain. OpenSea began supporting Solana collections on Aug. 31, bringing them alongside collectibles issued on more than 25 other blockchains. The NFT marketplace also supports fungible Solana tokens.

The launch included collections such as Claynosaurz, Mad Lads, Collector Crypt and Phygitals. OpenSea said: Collectors can now access all of the Solana NFTs in collections participating in this partnership in one place. Creators can now also distribute their collections to collectors outside of the Solana NFT marketplace.

According to OpenSea CEO and co-founder Devin Finzer, Solana NFTs are being integrated on the platform so that OpenSea can become a universal marketplace for NFT, regardless of the underlying blockchain it is based on. Solana NFTs on OpenSea are presented alongside Solana blockchain tokens to reduce the friction of moving between multiple trading platforms.

Two additional NFT projects on Solana were added to OpenSea as well: Mad Lads, a collection of almost 10,000 NFTs released in April 2023 by Backpack, and Claynosaurz, launched in November 2022 and based on clay-style dinosaur characters. Claynosaurz has also expanded as a brand into animation, a game, merchandise, and other digital collectibles.

OpenSea had supported the use of NFTs from the Solana blockchain since April 2022, when it opened a beta integration with a small number of Solana collections, though it did not see the same success as the Solana marketplaces. The latest rollout effectively revisits that strategy within a much broader multi-chain product.

The product has changed in form since the early days of the NFTs-focused OpenSea. In May 2025, OS2, which exited beta that month, combined the trading of fungible tokens and NFTs and simplified cross-chain trading. In the same month, OpenSea registered 467,322 monthly active addresses, a 44% increase from April, and the same $81 million in trading volume.

The company bought Rally Wallet in July 2025 as it pushed for broader mobile access and for token trading. Solana fungible tokens had been supported on OS2 before NFTs returned. Accordingly, the Aug. 31 launch effectively brings the collectibles in line with the network’s supported tokens.

Outside of spot tokens and NFTs, OpenSea has explored other products. In June, OpenSea Product Marketing Lead Zack Brenner stated that its planned perpetual futures would use Hyperliquid infrastructure. OpenSea had not indicated a timeline for a launch, what assets would be supported, or what the product terms would be.

OpenSea’s official cryptocurrency, SEA, was planned for release, but has not been released to date, with Finzer citing unfavorable market conditions as a reason for deferring its planned March 2026 release. SEA was planned to include functions for governance and utility, such as discounts on trading fees, NFT collection-linked staking, and governance voting.

OpenSea’s renewed push for Solana brings it into more direct competition with Magic Eden, which had a Solana-centric history. Magic Eden is winding down its NFT marketplaces for Bitcoin and EVM projects while remaining committed to Solana, while OpenSea has rebuilt its multi-chain marketplace offerings and is integrating Solana’s creators and collectors into its all-chain marketplace.
