I spend a lot of time on the practice ground and the golf course hitting the best drivers on the market, it is quite literally my job! As such I have tested a lot of models and right now, before 2024 kicks in and lots of brands release new products (I think), there are actually several awesome deals on models released earlier this year.
For example the Stealth 2 from TaylorMade, Callaway Paradym, and Cobra AeroJet drivers are all on offer with as much as 36% off which equates to hundreds of dollars worth of discount. You can also get models from Cleveland, Ping and Wilson with big discounts too and because the team at Golf Monthly has tested each and every one of these models, we know they are good. So if you are in the market for a new driver, or you need a Christmas golf gift for someone as soon as possible, then below are our 9 favorite driver deals right now.
TaylorMade Stealth 2
The TaylorMade Stealth 2 is one of the highest performing drivers of 2023. With its striking red “carbonwood” face, it is instantly recognizable on the course. You may have seen the familiar red face during the Ryder Cup with players such as Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood and Scottie Scheffler all trusting the Stealth 2 range.
When we tested the Stealth 2, we were impressed by the consistency of flight and powerful feel. It has a slightly more user-friendly look than its predecessor the Stealth, which certainly inspires confidence at address. This driver will suit a broad range of players and has the adjustability to be dialed in to your own personal flight and spin preferences. With many PGA Tour players using the Stealth 2, I feel that $450 represents really good value here for a super premium driver.
Cobra Aerojet Driver
With the introduction of the Aerojet, Cobra has built on its reputation for producing top performing drivers at a more affordable price. In the standard model, we were particularly impressed by the increase in speed and distance on offer from a head that still has a classic profile at address.
The main technology story with Aerojet is based around speed. In particular, a new aerodynamic shape that helps the driver move faster through the air. Couple that with a 13g weight that sits low in the sole, behind the face and Aerojet delivers golfers fast ball speeds and low spin for more yardage. Certainly one of the best drivers we tested this year and with a price under $360 (nearly $200 off), I’d say this represents excellent value for golfers of most skill levels.
Cobra Aerojet LS
There are more great savings to be had with the Cobra Aerojet LS driver. During our testing, we were particularly impressed with the exceptionally fast ball speeds the Aerojet produces.
Rickie Fowler and Gary Woodland are among the PGA Tour players to trust the Aerojet, with Fowler having it in the bag for his first PGA Tour win since 2019 earlier this year. The head has a really cool aerodynamic shape to it, born out of significant research and development, but still maintains a very classic profile.
This driver produces a really satisfying muted sound at impact and rivals any of the best drivers on the market for ball speed. You won’t see many current, tour used drivers for under $350, so this surely deserves a glance.
Callaway Paradym
By neatly balancing power with forgiveness, the Callaway Paradym driver has a truly broad appeal and it performed excellently when we tested it. Throw in some new, aspirational aesthetics and a lively feel and you have a serious contender at the premium end of the market. While most Tour Players opt for the Paradym Triple Diamond model (see below), there are some who have the standard Paradym in play.
Callaway’s engineers have done away with any trace of titanium in the body, saving weight to use elsewhere for more forgiveness. Add to that improved stability from a new Jailbreak design, an A.I. Optimized face for downrange dispersion and a Face Cup for faster ball speeds and there’s clearly a lot packed into a driver. The price when this driver was released earlier this year was $599.99 but I found this deal where you can save over a hundred bucks, which the biggest saving I’ve seen so far on one of the best drivers of this year.
Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond
The Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond is a great driver that does exactly what it says it’s going to; it spins less and it goes further. This is the preferred driver of Masters Champ Jon Rahm as well as many other leading tour pros and it’s definitely aimed at the more skilled golfer. So if you’re a player who likes to shape the ball off the tee, then this model – the more compact and traditional of the three in the range – ticks a lot of boxes.
While it would not be among the best drivers for slow swing speeds or the best drivers for beginners, this can be an amazing weapon in the hands of someone skilled enough to wield it effectively and it is now going on sale before Christmas, meaning you can pick up this Masters winning driver at a really nice discount.
Cleveland Launcher XL Lite
Serious value to be had here for the slower swing speed players. Whilst not traditionally one of the main players in the driver market, we really enjoyed what the Launcher XL had to offer during our testing. Whilst we tested the standard XL as opposed to the light version, the playing characteristics are the same….just lighter!
The weight savings allow the user to create more swing speed with less effort, resulting in longer drives. In our full Cleveland Launcher XL review, we were particularly impressed with the generous head size and a really premium finish for the price tag. With around 15% off, this is a strong driver for the price tag
Wilson Staff Launch Pad 2
One of the easiest-to-launch drivers we’ve hit this year, this delivers impressively on its promise of making the game easier for people off the tee. The simple, sleek aesthetics make this a very desirable option.
This is unquestionably one of the best drivers for seniors and for slower swing speeds and it’s currently at its lowest ever price point. So if you struggle to get height on your drives, this is certainly worth consideration, especially when you consider you can get one for around 70% off which equates to around $250 off!
Taylormade SIM2 Max
The TaylorMade SIM2 range was extremely popular, with Brooks Koepka even returning to this older model during the Ryder Cup.There is some real value to be had here on a driver that is still in use on the PGA Tour to this day. Available for less than $350 now, we feel this represents a great deal. The SIM2 Max is designed with maximum forgiveness in mind and we feel it really delivers, giving them four and a half stars in our full review. Take a look soon as these savings wont last forever…
Ping G425 LST
One of the strongest drivers of last season is now available for under $400! I honestly can’t say enough good things about the G425 and in particular the LST (low spin technology) model. One of the standout performers and still in the bag of many tour professionals including Viktor Hovland, this deal represents astonishing value and is one not to be missed. During testing, we felt that this was one of the most forgiving low spin drivers we had ever tested. Often playability is compromised when looking to reduce spin, but not here.
