On 9 June 2026, at 09:30 hrs, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremony was held at the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, Khon Kaen University. The Faculty of Economics, led by Associate Professor Suthin Wianwiwat, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, and Assistant Professor Prasert Wichitnopparat, Vice Dean for Research, Innovation, Academic Services, and Corporate Communications, officially entered into an agreement with the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, led by Assistant Professor Pongsutti Phuensane, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, and Associate Professor Supawat Meeprom, Ph.D., Editor-in-Chief of the KKBS Journal. The landmark event was witnessed by executives, faculty members, and staff from both divisions.

The objective of this MOU is to establish a cooperative framework for publishing a special issue of the KKBS Journal of Business Administration and Accountancy, themed “Applied Economics and the GMS Economy”. This initiative is designed to promote the production and dissemination of academic knowledge regarding economics and the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) economy, while simultaneously expanding publication channels for faculties and internal departments within Khon Kaen University (KKU) to showcase their scholarly achievements.

Associate Professor Suthin Wianwiwat, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, stated, “This MOU signing with the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy represents a significant milestone in fostering academic collaboration between our two closely linked faculties. Developing this special journal issue on ‘Applied Economics and the GMS Economy’ will serve as a vital platform for consolidating and distributing knowledge relevant to economic development in the Mekong subregion. This directly aligns with the Faculty of Economics’ vision to be a leading institution in the GMS, renowned for excellence in practical economics.”

Assistant Professor Pongsutti Phuensane, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, added, “The Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy is delighted to collaborate with the Faculty of Economics on this special journal issue. The KKBS Journal maintains nationally recognised academic standards, and dedicating a special issue to applied economics and the GMS economy will enrich the depth and diversity of our scholarly content. Furthermore, it provides an excellent opportunity for scholars and faculty members nationwide to publish research addressing issues critical to regional development.”

The partnership between the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy integrates the unique expertise of both divisions to generate highly valuable academic outcomes. It simultaneously enhances the production of high-quality research, creates robust publishing spaces for KKU faculty and researchers, and elevates public understanding of the GMS economy. This collaborative effort reinforces Khon Kaen University’s broader mission to operate as a leading research and innovation university in the region.
