Mozambique is showcasing the potential of its blue economy in Spain, seeking to project investment opportunities, strengthen international partnerships, and acquire knowledge to drive sustainable development across the seafood sector and ocean-related activities.
The promotional showcase is taking place in Vigo, Spain, where the Blue Economy Development Fund (ProAzul) has been participating since Monday in the 14th Conxemar International Congress and the 27th International Frozen Seafood Exhibition—two benchmark platforms for debate, innovation, business, and cooperation in the seafood and blue economy sectors.
The gathering brings together leaders, business executives, and specialists from diverse nations, including Spain, Argentina, Venezuela, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Angola, Namibia, South Africa, Senegal, and France, creating a networking hub for actors across the marine resources value chain.
Organized by Conxemar, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food of Spain, with financial backing from ABANCA, the congress addresses core challenges and emerging trends shaping the sector’s transformation.
Key topics under discussion include artificial intelligence, digital traceability, technological innovation, sustainability, international trade, and competitiveness—areas considered strategic for modernizing and expanding the blue economy.
Represented by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Oswaldo Petersburg, ProAzul is using its participation in the event to present existing opportunities in Mozambique and establish contacts with potential international partners and investors.
The Mozambican presence also aims to identify investment opportunities, foster strategic partnerships, and gather insights and expertise that can contribute to the sustainable and competitive development of the national blue economy.
With an extensive coastline and diverse marine resources, Mozambique seeks to position the blue economy as a key domain capable of contributing to economic growth, job creation, food security, and the development of coastal communities.
Participation in the congress and trade fair in Vigo places Mozambique at the center of a major international forum for dialogue on seafood, innovation, and ocean-based business.
ProAzul’s presence in Spain is highlighted as an opportunity to bolster Mozambique’s international visibility and connect the nation with investment, knowledge, and cooperation networks focused on a more sustainable, innovative, and competitive blue economy.
