Crosstimbers Capital Group has hired James Wang as a managing director and member of its investment committee in Houston, where he will lead investment execution, portfolio monitoring and asset management. Mr. Wang joins from Ara Partners, where he was a managing director and principal, and was previously a vice president at First Reserve, where he helped execute more than $2 billion of equity investments. He began his career in investment banking at Lehman Brothers.
Crosstimbers builds hard-asset businesses in digital infrastructure, water, power and transportation, under a strategy it calls HALO, for hard assets and low obsolescence. The firm has built 12 platforms since it was founded in 2016. David Hollon, a co-founder and managing partner, said the hire gives the firm’s operating partners a senior, dedicated resource in portfolio and asset management. Mr. Wang said the rigor the team brings from underwriting through ownership is what drew him to the firm.
