Hamilton Lane has held the final close of its sixth Direct Equity fund, securing a total of $3.8 billion in commitments in and alongside Hamilton Lane Equity Opportunities Fund VI (EO VI).

The new vehicle focuses on diversified exposure to middle-market buyout opportunities through the firm’s global Direct Equity platform. The prior vintage, Hamilton Lane Equity Opportunities Fund V, closed at $2.1 billion, underscoring a step-up in available capital for the strategy.

Investors in EO VI include a broad mix of global institutions such as public pensions, sovereign wealth funds, Taft-Hartley pension plans, endowments, foundations, family offices and other financial institutions.

“We are thrilled to announce the final close of EO VI, our largest direct equity fund to date,” said Ken Binick, Head of Direct Equity Investments at Hamilton Lane. “Our differentiated approach within the middle market and our ability to deliver scaled strategic capital alongside our deep network of leading GPs resonated strongly with our investors.”

Megan Milne, Managing Director, Direct Equity Investments, added that the close “underscores the strength of our Direct Equity platform and reflects what our global investor base is looking for – access to a differentiated middle market opportunity set.”

Hamilton Lane’s broader Direct Equity platform manages more than $22.2 billion in AUM, has been active for over 30 years and is supported by a 43-person dedicated team. The strategy spans commingled co-investment funds, evergreen vehicles and discretionary separate accounts.

Over the last two years, the Direct Equity platform has generated more than $6 billion in distributions and, since inception, has completed 787 discretionary direct equity investments, according to the firm.
