Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Employment Land
Locals have been told this week yet another delay is hitting the South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP) – a major planning document which will govern development in the area for the next quarter century.
While Warwick and Stratford-on-Avon District Councils look set to push back the final public consultation on the plan, residents have been given a chance to see how the major document is shaping up.
This has included plans for thousands of new houses across South Warwickshire, both around existing towns and as two ‘new settlements’.
Restaurant’s Terrace Tussle
A Kenilworth business has been given a final notice to rip down a wooden terrace after installing it without planning permission.
The owners of 55 Warwick Road – now home to the restaurant Laurent – installed the wooden panelling on its rear staircase in 2019 and was told by the council three years ago to remove it.
The business then submitted a retrospective planning application in a bid to keep the terrace, but this was refused.

Stoneleigh’s Future
Councillors will next week decide on the next steps on the masterplan for a major new housing development near Kenilworth.
Warwick District Council’s (WDC) cabinet is set to feed back on a public consultation into the planning document for the land at Kings Hill.
The six-week consultation was held earlier this year, asking for public feedback on the masterplan which will ultimately govern how nearly 4,000 houses are built on the land at Stoneleigh.
