Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has hit out at a recent rumour accusing WWE of holding a double standard around him – calling it “complete horses**t!”
Last week, a report emerged that some WWE talent had become upset over an apparent double standard in how the company was treating The Rock. Specifically, they are annoyed over The Rock’s use of profanity and sexual innuendos while they cannot due to PG TV guidelines.
The report was further expanded on in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Dave Meltzer notes that there is a feeling that Johnson has reintroduced the idea that there is a double standard for certain stars, something which plagued the company during the era of Vince McMahon.
In addition, it was added that the wishes of TKO Group Holdings management are for the WWE product to remain TV-PG, hence the reason behind when a memo from Nick Khan was sent out a few weeks ago enforcing that talent should not be swearing, even on social media.
Therefore, some talents are said to be frustrated as they feel that The Rock, as a member of the TKO Board of Directors, should be following the directive set by the company to set an example for everyone else.
The Rock Denies “Complete Horses**t” Double Standards Report
Now, The Great One himself has addressed the rumours himself. In a reply to coverage of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s report on his X account, Johnson vehemently denied the story and blasted its credibility.
“This story is complete horseshit.”
