President John Dramani Mahama has officially cut the sod for the construction of a modern 24-Hour Economy Market at Assin Bereku in the Assin North District of the Central Region, marking a significant milestone in the Government’s efforts to promote trade, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth nationwide.

The project forms part of the Government’s ambitious nationwide initiative to construct 261 modern markets across all districts under the flagship 24-Hour Economy programme.

The Assin Bereku market will feature a wide range of modern facilities designed to support businesses and improve public services. These include a day-care centre, clinic, cold storage facilities, warehouses, a lorry station, Police and Fire Service posts, a restaurant, pharmacy, improved sanitation systems, market management offices, and 24-hour banking services.

Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony, President Mahama said the project is aimed at transforming local commerce by providing traders with a modern and secure environment to conduct business around the clock.

He noted that the market would enhance commercial activity, attract private investment, create employment opportunities, and improve the livelihoods of residents in Assin Bereku and neighbouring communities.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to accelerating infrastructure development, reducing poverty, and expanding economic opportunities for all Ghanaians through strategic investments in markets and other key public facilities.

When completed, the 24-Hour Economy Market is expected to boost economic activities in the Assin North District and contribute significantly to the Government’s vision of building a resilient and inclusive economy driven by continuous productivity and trade.
