Warriors warning on tickets for Knights clash: ‘Get out of the road, you scalpers, no room for you’

Warriors boss Cameron George is urging ticket scalpers to stay away and let genuine fans enjoy this weekend’s last home game of the season.

Saturday night’s loss to the Dolphins means the Warriors now face a must-win game against Newcastle to keep their hopes of a maiden NRL Premiership alive.

Last week many fans missed out on tickets for the Mount Smart game and were then left fuming as tickets appeared online just minutes later at vastly inflated prices.

Working in the club and fans favour this week is that the game will be played at the 55,000 capacity Eden Park which holds roughly double the number of fans as Mount Smart.

Club CEO Geroge was critical of those who were making money from the resale of tickets.

“They’ve just got to pull their heads in those people, let the genuine people buy the tickets and come to the game and enjoy it with their family,” George told Morning Report.

“I was really disappointed to see it last week and I just hope they pull their heads in this week and get out of our road and let the families and the genuine people pay for the tickets at the right price.

“If I was to ever catch anyone doing it, I’d be barring them from every Warriors game for the rest of their life.”

Reselling of legitimate tickets is allowed in New Zealand as long as the seller has the tickets in their possession.

However George had a message for those hoping to make a financial gain.

“Just get out of our road, you scalpers. No room for you. Let us have the right people buy the tickets.”

George is expecting Sunday’s game against the Knights to sell out for a game he describes as an international for his side.

“It’s us versus Australia. So the more people we get there, the better New Zealand will be.

“There are 17 teams in this comp and we’re the only one from here so it’s us against them. This is our New Zealand grand final in the NRL and it’s pretty special.”

Warriors club members can buy tickets from midday Monday with general public tickets going on sale Tuesday.

The Warriors kick off against the Newcastle Knights at 6.05pm Sunday at Eden Park.
