2026 summer construction season will see a $585 million investment in 24 infrastructure projects

The Manitoba government has launched the 2026 summer construction season with more than $585 million in investments across 24 infrastructure projects, strengthening key trade corridors and improving safety and reliability for Manitoba drivers.

“Our government is investing in infrastructure that makes a real difference in people’s daily lives,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Lisa Naylor. “Whether it’s getting to work, moving goods to market or travelling between regions, these projects support the communities that rely on these routes every day. By improving road conditions, adding passing lanes and strengthening connections, we’re making travel safer and more reliable while supporting local economies and keeping Manitobans connected.”

The largest project is the construction of a new interchange at Provincial Trunk Highway (PTH) 100 and PTH 3 (McGillivray Boulevard), with an investment of more than $235 million to help ease congestion and improve traffic flow along one of the province’s busiest routes, the minister noted.

Additional projects moving forward this season include:

  • bituminous reconstruction with new passing lanes on PTH 8 between PTH 67 and Provincial Road (PR) 231, a total project cost of $18.3 million;
  • gravel road restoration of 59 kilometres (km) on PR 227 between PTH 16 and PR 248, a total project cost of $10.6 million;
  • grading improvements on PR 374 from PR 373 extending 14 km north, a total project cost of $28.2 million; and
  • bituminous reconstruction of 29 km on PTH 75 from the U.S. border to six km north of PTH 14, a total project cost of $41.9 million.

Together, these projects represent a co-ordinated investment in critical infrastructure that supports trade, travel and regional connectivity provincewide.

With construction beginning on these 24 projects, along with other construction activities underway across the province throughout the summer, motorists are reminded to slow down, stay alert and follow all signage in work zones.

These projects reflect the Manitoba government’s continued focus on building and maintaining a safe, efficient and connected transportation network, the minister noted.
