Bridgwater’s trampoline gymnasts win gold in Cardiff

The competition saw standout performances across trampoline, double mini trampoline (DMT), and synchronised trampoline.

The team say one of the weekend’s most exciting moments came as coach Theo Gundry-White went head-to-head with his own athlete.

Theo faced club performer Mike Oleksiyevets in the League 2 17+ Men’s DMT event, taking gold with a winning routine while Mike secured a strong fourth-place finish.

Theo went on to win gold in the Men’s Super League trampoline event, and later claimed bronze in the 19+ Mixed Synchro alongside Cerys McIntosh.

There was further success for Quayside through Cooper Maddock, who took gold in the League 3 9–12 Male DMT competition.

In the League 1 trampoline events, Bridgwater athletes secured multiple podium finishes. Lily Catlow claimed silver in the 9–12 Female category, while Gabriella Woods took bronze in the same event.

Mike Oleksiyevets added to the medal tally with silver in the 17–21 Male category, and Jamie Pugsley earned bronze in the 15–16 Male competition.

Several other gymnasts narrowly missed out on podium places, with Toby Evans finishing fourth in the League 3 11–12 Male trampoline, Siyaana Maxamed placing fourth in the League 3 17+ Female DMT, and both Cooper Maddock and Mike Oleksiyevets also recording fourth-place finishes in their additional events.

Head coach Carl Hall praised the team’s performance and depth across the club.

He said: “Cardiff was a fantastic weekend for the club. The focus here is rightly on our top-four finishers, and there were some excellent performances across the team.”

“Theo had an exceptional weekend with two gold medals and a synchro bronze, and the DMT head-to-head with Mike was a brilliant club storyline. Mike is continuing to develop strongly, and for both of them to finish in the top four was a great result.

“Cooper’s DMT gold was another real highlight, and it was excellent to see Lily, Gabriella, Jamie, and Mike all standing on the podium in trampoline. These results show the strength we are building across different age groups, levels, and disciplines.”

Following their success in Cardiff, Quayside now faces a busy competition schedule in July.

Seven members of the club have been selected to represent the South West at the Inter-Regional Challenge Cup Final in Birmingham, before 13 gymnasts compete at the English Championships Finals in Telford.

Based in Bridgwater, Quayside Trampoline and Gymnastics Club provides opportunities for children and young people across Somerset, from beginner level through to national competition.
