Uzbektelecom, the state-owned telecommunications company in Uzbekistan, has launched two new data centers in Bukhara and Kokand to enhance cloud services, AI capabilities, and GPU-as-a-service (GPUaaS) options within the country.
As reported by Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Digital Technologies, these new Tier III-certified data centers are part of the UzCloud national cloud platform, offering infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), platform-as-a-service (PaaS), software-as-a-service (SaaS), along with S3 object storage and backup services.

The facilities in Bukhara and Kokand specifically focus on AI resources through the AI Cloud initiative and GPUaaS. They come equipped with dedicated GPU servers essential for tasks like training and deploying AI models, machine learning, processing large datasets, image recognition, video analytics, and creating digital twins.
Located over 300 km from Tashkent, these data centers are the most remote facilities from the capital, adding an extra layer of disaster recovery. They are connected to Uztelecom’s backbone network and the TAS-IX national internet exchange.
These new centers will allow government agencies, businesses, and tech firms to access cutting-edge computing resources without having to build similar infrastructure themselves.
Umar Izbasarov, Director of Uztelecom’s Advanced Development and Investment Projects Department, stated:
Uzbekistan’s digital economy is growing rapidly, and with it, the demand for reliable, world-class sovereign infrastructure is increasing. The launch of the new data centers continues the development of the national digital infrastructure.
The ministry’s announcement also indicated that Uztelecom plans to open a fifth Tier III-certified data center in Zangiata, Tashkent region, with completion projected for the third quarter of 2026. Additionally, Uztelecom intends to implement a pilot all-photonic network (APN) at the Zangiata site, based on Japan’s IOWN concept, in collaboration with Toyota Tsusho, NTT Docomo Business, and NEC.
