Wise Captures Gold on Day 1 of Atlantic 10 Championships

FAIRFAX, Va. – The Richmond women’s track and field team competed on Day 1 of the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday afternoon. Highlighting the day was Molly Wise, who captured a gold medal. Five other Spiders advanced to finals.
 
Wise won the long jump with a mark of 6.10 meters, repeating as the A-10 outdoor champion after earning the title last year.
 
Three Spiders qualified for the 1,500-meter final. In the trials, Hallie Muniz ran a personal-best 4:26.41 to finish first. Brooke Reif placed second in 4:26.25, and Phoebe Rubio finished ninth in 4:34.04. Ava LoVuolo recorded a personal-best 4:41.15.
 
In the 800 meters, Caroline Donohoe and Molly Flanagan qualified for the championship final. Donohoe placed fourth in 2:10.34, while Flanagan finished sixth in 2:11.04.
 
In the 10,000 meters, Lydia Shields led the team with a time of 35:11.55. Mollie Fenn finished in 35:41.04, Charlotte Hudson clocked 35:41.80, and Paige Joyce posted a time of 36:28.00.
 
The Spiders return to action at 10 a.m. on May 3 to close out the Atlantic 10 Championships.
