Yanis Varoufakis, Greece’s former finance minister and an economist, said he once held 2,000 Bitcoin.
In an interview, Varoufakis said he donated the entire holding because he did not agree with Bitcoin’s underlying philosophy, Bitcoin News reported on May 30.
He also viewed Bitcoin as oligarchic, the report said.
As of 4 p.m., Bitcoin was trading at $73,440, down 0.32% from a day earlier, according to CoinMarketCap. At that price, the donation would be worth about $146.88 million.
