XRP Price Prediction: We Asked ChatGPT Where XRP Goes Now That the CLARITY Act Failed

The CLARITY Act collapsed 49 to 50, and every analyst target set this year just became obsolete. ChatGPT ran the numbers on what XRP actually owns now, and the answer cuts in two directions at once.

XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) holders spent this year anticipating the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, a bill intended to write XRP’s commodity status into federal law rather than leaving it subject to regulatory changes. The bill reached the Senate floor with 126 Democratic amendments included but failed on a procedural vote on September 15, 2026, with cloture ending 49 to 50.

After the vote, XRP closed 7.98% lower, and every analyst target set this year depended on the bill’s passage. Holders own the same XRP they owned on Monday, and it is worth 7.98% less. So where does the XRP price go from here?

All significant XRP price targets set this year assumed the bill would pass, so forecasts now must be made without that assumption. A session conducted on September 17, when XRP was priced at $1.30, projected a 90-day range of $0.90 to $1.65, with a central estimate of $1.20. That central estimate is below where XRP trades today, so the model is calling for further weakness before any recovery.

ChatGPT identified the $1.20 to $1.23 range as “the key near-term battleground,” characterizing the market as experiencing “initial weakness/consolidation, followed by a recovery attempt if ETF demand stabilizes and the broader crypto market ceases to decline.” Should the price break below that range, the model noted that a drop to $0.90 “would indicate that the market is beginning to price in something more fundamentally significant than just a failed legislative catalyst.”

Level Move from current Description
$0.90 30.8% below ChatGPT’s floor target
$0.9877 24.0% below Cycle low from August 17
$1.20 7.7% below ChatGPT’s central estimate
$1.21 6.9% below 50-day exponential moving average
$1.355 4.2% above 200-day moving average, lost after the vote
$1.65 26.9% above ChatGPT’s ceiling target
$2.80 115.4% above Standard Chartered’s target

Geoffrey Kendrick of Standard Chartered initially set an XRP target of $8.00 in April 2025, later revising it down to $2.80 in February 2026. His $7.00 target for 2027 and $12.60 for 2028 hinge on the bill’s passage and XRP ETF inflows exceeding $4 billion, and neither condition has been met.

What XRP Still Has Without the CLARITY Act

On September 16, Ripple’s Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty declared on X that “Ripple and XRP stand on settled ground,” pointing to the position the company reached after five years in court with the SEC. Following the SEC and CFTC’s joint interpretation on March 17, XRP holds a digital commodity classification that stands until a future Commission moves to change it.

Ripple’s SEC settlement closed in August 2025 and cannot be reopened. Ripple’s dollar-backed stablecoin, RLUSD, has reached $2.442 billion in circulation and accounts for 82% of stablecoin activity on the XRP Ledger.

ChatGPT’s 90-day forecast depends on those three things holding, and the main risk it names is a formal move by the SEC or CFTC to change XRP’s commodity classification. SEC Chairman Paul Atkins posted on the same day as Alderoty that the agency will act “with or without legislation.” Alderoty has a point. Nothing XRP owns changed on the day of the vote.

What Could Break the Forecast?

The model identified one unlikely risk over the next quarter, while two more probable influences fall outside its assumptions.

Demand for ETFs is the first. As of September 16, five US spot XRP ETFs report $1.71 billion in cumulative net inflows across nine consecutive weeks of growth, although the weekly figure now runs at $19 million, well below August’s peak of $110.49 million.

Retail investors account for 84% of those inflows. That leaves institutions, the buyers every bullish target counts on, doing less than a fifth of it. Second-quarter filings name Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS | GS Price Prediction), Jane Street and Millennium among the largest professional holders, and CME XRP futures open interest has risen 36%.

The Federal Reserve is the second. Its recent 25-basis-point increase, to a range of 3.75% to 4.00%, means Treasury bills now pay more. XRP pays a holder nothing, so money tends to move toward what does. Twelve of the 18 policymakers on the Federal Open Market Committee expect one more increase this year, which falls inside the model’s window.

Where Does XRP Trade From Here?

ChatGPT projects XRP between $0.90 and $1.65 with a central estimate of $1.20, and the reversal it names as the breaker looks unlikely under the Commission that classified XRP as a digital commodity in March. Kalshi priced the CLARITY Act becoming law before January 1, 2027 at 20% on the day of the vote.

XRP’s next three months depend on whether institutional money arrives now that there is no bill to wait for. If it does, XRP could reclaim the $1.355 200-day average and put the $1.65 ceiling in play. If it does not, the coin might spend the quarter between $1.20 and $1.23, with the $0.9877 cycle low below that.

The vote didn’t take anything away from XRP. It only took away the chance to make what XRP already has permanent, and that is a different problem with a longer timeline. The next dates that could move the XRP price are the SEC’s comment deadline on October 20 and Ripple’s Swell conference from October 27 to 29.
