Students in the Department of Community Development and Applied Economics (CDAE) and the Agricultural and Life Sciences Education (ALE) program are putting their creativity on display through a new Sock Design Contest celebrating student talent and community spirit.

The contest received 19 unique submissions, including one hand-drawn design, highlighting the creativity and personality of students across both programs. The designs reflect a wide range of artistic styles and ideas, all inspired by the spirit of the department and its students.

Participation in the contest was open to CDAE and ALE majors and minors, giving students an opportunity to contribute their creativity to a fun, community-centered initiative.

Voting is now open and will be conducted exclusively by CDAE and ALE students. Students can view the submitted designs and cast their votes between March 13 and March 20, with voting closing at 12:00 p.m. on the final day.

“This contest gives students a chance to participate in a design competition while also building real-world skills,” said CDAE academic advisor Jacqueline Drouin. “From developing a concept to sharing their work with a voting audience, students are engaging in the kind of creative and professional experiences that translate beyond the classroom.”

The winning design will be announced shortly after March 20 and will earn recognition across the department as the official winning sock design.
