In recognition of the pivotal role played by economic development professionals in fostering growth and prosperity, the City of Beeville has officially proclaimed May 6 through May 10, 2024, as Economic Development Week. The proclamation underscores the tireless efforts of over 100,000 economic development professionals worldwide committed to creating, retaining, and expanding top-tier opportunities that fuel long-term community growth.
Bee Area Partnership President Randy Seitz and Bee County Chamber of Commerce President Shannon Biggerstaff graced the Beeville City Council Chambers on April 22, representing the economic development community of Beeville.
Economic development professionals, spanning diverse environments from rural to urban settings, operate at various levels, including local, state, provincial, and national governments, as well as public-private partnerships, chambers of commerce, and institutions of higher education. Their mission is to cultivate thriving neighborhoods, enhance sustainability, boost economic prosperity and build robust tax bases.
The proclamation, read by Mayor Brian Watson acknowledges the vital contributions of economic development professionals in bridging connections between community stakeholders. These connections, spanning business leaders, elected officials, industry executives, and educational administrators, facilitate collaboration, spur investment, drive infrastructure advancements, and pave the way for an optimistic future.
“National Economic Development Week is an opportunity for us to recognize the invaluable contributions of economic development professionals,” Watson said. “Their dedication and hard work are instrumental in expanding opportunities, improving lives, and propelling society forward.”
As Economic Development Week unfolds, the City of Beeville encourages residents to reflect on the importance of economic development and to join in the celebration of the professionals dedicated to shaping a brighter future for communities worldwide.
