We are pleased to announce that the Department of Economics team took third place in the CFA Institute Research Challenge 2026 Regional Final, held in Cairo, where university teams from nine countries competed.
Having won the national competition, the team advanced to the Regional Final, representing Greece and the University of Athens. The team members were:

At the Regional Final, the students presented their financial analysis and valuation and responded to questions from a panel of experienced investment professionals. Their third-place finish reflects their strong preparation and analytical skills, as well as their ability to work effectively as a team and apply their academic training to real-world financial analysis.
The team travelled to Cairo with Professor Georgios Dotsis, who supported the students throughout the competition. Professor and Administration Council member Dimitris Kenourgios and Assistant Professor Ioannis Katsampoxakis also provided academic guidance and technical support throughout the team’s preparation.
We warmly thank CFA Society Greece and its President, George Panagopoulos, for supporting the Greek team, as well as CFA Society Egypt for organising and hosting the Regional Final. We also congratulate the Cypriot team on finishing second.
Our team’s achievement reflects the quality of the University of Athens’ students and the value of combining academic study with practical experience in an international professional setting. We are proud of our students’ performance and grateful to everyone who supported them throughout the competition.
