HEC Montréal doubly represented on the Governing Council

In the same press release, the Bank of Canada also announced the appointment of Marc-André Gosselin as Deputy Governor. Mr. Gosselin, who received a master’s degree in applied economics from HEC Montréal, will also join the Bank’s Governing Council and will oversee the Bank’s analysis of domestic economic developments.

Nicolas Vincent: a brief overview

Nicolas Vincent trained as an economist and graduated from HEC Montréal with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He received a master’s degree in economics from Queen’s University and a PhD in economics from Northwestern University.

He joined the HEC Montréal faculty in 2007 and became a full professor in 2021. He has been a visiting professor in France, at INSEAD, and in the United States, at the Columbia Business School and the Kellogg School of Management.

His research work mainly focuses on inflation, price dispersion, firm dynamics, inequality, house prices and household finance. Many of his studies have been published in leading international academic journals.

In 2021, the Société canadienne de science économique honoured him with the Marcel Dagenais Award, which recognizes the remarkable contribution of researchers to economic scientific life in French in Quebec or Canada.
