Hengqin Jintou Macau is set to become the city’s ninth investment fund management firm following government authorisation.
Hengqin Jintou Macau Investment Fund Management Company Limited has received the green light for the “exclusive exercise of private fund management activities”, according to an executive order issued by Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai on Monday in the Official Gazette.
Eight other firms are listed on the Monetary Authority of Macao website as investment fund management companies authorised to operate. These include A&P, WI Harper (Macau), Macau Funway, Hopu (Macau), E Fund, Gobi Macau, Fortera (Macao), and Key One Investment Fund Management.
These developments follow the new Investment Funds Law that took effect in Macau at the start of the year, replacing 1999 legislation.
The updated framework sets clearer roles and responsibilities for market participants, including fund managers, custodians, and distributors, while allowing more flexible fund structures such as contractual funds, joint-stock companies, and limited partnerships.
